 Subject: Tono-imo at Koanga Gardens

Another thought - the Japanese (ex China) cultivar tono-imo is a relatively low-acridity form of taro. Koanga Gardens may have some stock of this. The young leaves are undoubtedly usable for palusami, though not necessarily as good for the purpose as the leaves of tropical Pacific Island varieties. Please try and report! The advantage would be that tono-imo is well suited to NZs cool climate. Growing taro in a glasshouse is an option, but spider mites can be a problem.
