Taro - being mainly starch - is far from being like a synthetic (purified) steroid. There is probably some truth and some rot in the rumours surrounding steroids in taro. Plant steroids do exist, and may have some effect, but I have yet to see any reports suggesting that the steroids in taro have very strong effects, in natural concentrations. On the other hand, continuous and exclusive consumption of taro as a staple food might well have peculiar results of some sort. Can anyone here speak from experience?
