Australia

The Central Queensland University has campuses at Rockhampton, Bundaberg, Mackay. A comprehensive website for taro in subtropical and tropical Australia. There is much of interest here for taro growers in Asia and the Pacific generally.

France

The water-lily gardens at Latour-Marliac, Establissements Botaniques also display taro, at a latitude of close to 44 degrees North (in southern France). The 2004 plant catalogue offers taro as an ornamental for 11 Euros per plant.

Japan

Visit a Japanese organic farm with taro and other vegetables (introduced by the Rodale Institute).

Jamaica

The Rural Agricultural Development Authority offers advice on post-harvest handling and storage of wetland and dryland taros (dasheen).

Samoa

In an otherwise good introduction, the economic botany page at UCLA perpetrates the myth that taro 'rarely flowers and never sets seed'. Many wild and cultivated taros do flower and set seed if given a suitable environment, and enough time to grow.
